Culture of Possibilities

What's it like to work at Bright Black?

We bring humility, resilience, and laughter to the office each day. We work hard, and balance that rigor with a healthy dose of fun. You can't have a big ego to work here, it's always a team effort. The office team pride is very high because of the quality of our work and the complexity of the projects we work on.

Bright Black comes together to celebrate professional accomplishments, life’s milestones, and holidays.  Cultivating a positive, productive work environment takes time, but it's much easier when you have the right people on your team. Be your best every day in a workplace culture that expands your knowledge base and helps you thrive.

Janine Bellanger Tebay, Project Manager

Our Team

Every office refers to their people as their team but at Bright Black it really feels like that’s true.  Every project has a manager who is responsible for it but there is always someone who is willing to drop what they are doing and help at the busy and stressful times to ensure our deadlines are met.  Our team has a variety of skillsets – we can work in our strengths and work with each other to develop our weaknesses.  We are all striving to improve ourselves and to help others with the same.  I think that’s really important.

Our Clients

Through our business model of consulting with other architecture firms and helping them to meet their internal deadlines we have had the pleasure of working on some amazing projects and with some even better clients!  We work remotely which allows us to access projects that would otherwise be unheard of and we always get to meet so many great people along the way.  It feels really good to work with clients who are truly appreciative of your help and to feel that you are making a difference, no matter how small or widespread.

Our Office

Bright Black is the kind of work environment that I have always looked for – one where you actually enjoy coming to work.  We work hard but have fun doing it, laughing through the stressful situations and working together to get it done. The environment is based on open communication and is very accommodating and flexible – we all have lives outside the office and they understand that.  This helps reduce the stress surrounding work so much; it leaves the stress for the projects and making our clients happy and takes it out of coming to work. After all, our clients are what matters!

Employers are keen on work experience – or rather, they’re keen on what it gives you: the confidence and practical skills you need to succeed in the workplace.

Your work experience will make you a much stronger candidate when you apply for architectural jobs, but it will also give you a better feel for what you do and don’t enjoy and the career choices you want to make.
